Ocin_tsim - A DVFS Aware Simulator for NoC Design Space Exploration and Optimization

    Get PDF
Networks-on-Chip (NoCs) are a general purpose, scalable replacement for shared medium wired interconnects offering many practical applications in industry. Dynamic Voltage Frequency Scaling (DVFS) is a technique whereby a chip?s voltage-frequency levels are varied at run time, often used to conserve dynamic power. Various DVFSbased NoC optimization techniques have been proposed. However, due to the resources required to validate architectural decisions through prototyping, few are implemented. As a result, designers are faced with a lack of insight into potential power savings or performance gains at early architecture stages. This thesis proposes a DVFS aware NoC simulator with support for per node power-frequency modeling to allow fine-tuning of such optimization techniques early on in the design cycle. The proposed simulator also provides a framework for benchmarking various candidate strategies to allow selective prototyping and optimization. As part of the research, DVFS extensions were built for an existing NoC performance simulator and released for public use. This thesis presents some of the preliminary results from our simulator that show the average power consumed per node for all the benchmarks in SPLASH 2 benchmark suite [74] to be quite similar to each other. This thesis also serves as a technical manual for the simulator extensions. Important links for downloading and using the simulator are provided at the end of this document in Appendix C

Not AvailableA 12-week feeding trial was conducted to quantify the dietary lysine requirement of juvenile silver pompano with an initial average weight of 6.28 g reared in indoor recirculatory system. Six treatment diets were designed with isonitrogenous, isolipidic and isoenergetic diets were formulated with graded levels of lysine. Equal amino acid nitrogen was maintained by replacing lysine with nonessential amino acid mixture. Fish were randomly stocked, in triplicate groups, in 180 L indoor glass rectangular tanks with recirculatory system and fed to apparent satiation over two feedings at 10 and 16 hours daily during the experimental period. The results indicated that there were significant differences in growth and feed utilization among the treatments. Fish fed diets with lysine in different treatments showed high survival rate. Maximum weight gain, specific growth rate and protein efficiency ratio occurred at 2.21 per cent dietary lysine. The hepatosomatic index, viscerosomatic index and crude protein content in whole body were significantly affected by dietary lysine levels. There were significant differences in total serum protein levels and erythrocyte count in fish fed diets with different dietary lysine levels. No significant differences were observed in the levels of serum glucose, triglycerides and creatinine levels among the treatments. In the present study, optimization of fitted quadratic regression of weight gain percentage , SGR, PER and FER on lysine in diet revealed that the optimum lysine requirement of silver pompano was in the range of 2.40–2.45 per cent of dry diet . Statement of relevance: First report of lysine requirement of juvenile silver pompano. Not Availabl

Not AvailableIn this study, we optimized the dietary methionine requirement of juvenile silver pompano (average initial weight of 5.47 g). Six isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets (420 g/kg crude protein [CP] and 60 g/kg lipid) were formulated with different concentrations of methionine (5.1, 6.9, 9.0, 10.7, 13.1, and 15.2 g/kg dry diet) and a constant level of cysteine (5.3 g/kg). Fishes were randomly stocked in a recirculatory system for a feeding trial of 90 days. After the feeding trial, significant differences (P 0.05) were observed among hepatosomatic index, viscerosomatic index, muscle ratio, condition factor, serum glucose, triglycerides, and erythrocyte count. The optimization of the fitted quadratic regression for WG, SGR, TGC, FCR, and PER based on the dietary methionine level showed that the optimum methionine requirement of silver pompano in nursery phase ranged from 11.6–11.8 g/kg dry diet (27.6–28.1 g/kg dietary CP), corresponding to a dietary cysteine level of 5.3 g/kg.Not Availabl
